And This is Why You Don't Need MTC's BlackBerry
Ok, this post will prolly make me the geekiest gurl eva, but what the heck... I know for sure that you people buy mobile phones and only use almost 10% of what is was designed to do in the first place, tell me, how many of you got a Sony Ericsson mobile and came across that "My Friends" blue icon, played with it a lil then skipped it??? How many of you noticed that "Chat" thingie in Nokia's menu and thought, "oh well, that's another service MTC, WATANIYA didn't activate"??? I'll tell you, ALL OF YOU :D :P
Here's the deal, I'll tell you how to set up those GREAT chat clients, and also the email client you have in your mobile and don't even bothered to set it up although it's easier than outlook and mail. And all I need in return is not to buy a blackberry :P HAHAHAHA.
Anyways, starting with the email thingie first, I'll tell you how to set it for any Sony Ericsson device with gmail account, and if you want to know more you can follow the same procedure for hotmail and any other mail providing their own servers.
----------------------------------------------
Setting up the mobile's email clients...
----------------------------------------------
In SE main menu you choose Messaging>>Email>>Settings>>New account
and here you can name it whateva ya want, then after that you scroll down a lil to
"Connect using" and you use you GPRS access point, then after that in the
"Email address" you type in your email, for example smith@gmail.com, then
"Connection type" is POP3,
"Incoming server" is pop.gmail.com
"Username" is our case will be smith, don't type the whole email address for gmail users only.
"Password" simply your password.
"Outgoing server" smtp.gmail.com
And that's it!!! you can check out the "Advanced setting to set up your outgoin name and signature even and the intervals length you want your mobile to check for emails.
And as for the IM clients in you mobiles, you can log in MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and even Gtalk, but only if you got the right IMPS, there are alot of great servers out there such as YAMIGO and SmartVas, but unfortunately, those two are down for some unknown reasons. You can check out their websites for more details in the future if you want to. But now we will set it using PacketBox. You can check out their websites and forum, and you need to register a username there.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting up the "My Friends" in SE and the "IM Presence" in Nokia....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm only gonna show you how to do it for SE, Nokia people you can just input same information but maybe in different fields, I didn't touch a Nokia mobile in soooo looooooong.
So after signing up in PacketBox, you go to SE main menu>>Messaging>>My Friends>> More>>Settings>>Server setting
"Username" and "Password" the one you got in PacketBox
"Server" http://wv.packetbox.com:8080
"Internet Profile" choose your GPRS access point.
PS: If you're using old SE handset, and you passed by a "Domain" thingie, you jus leave it empty.
And here's for Nokia, but I'm not sure, I only got it from this website:
Go to 'Chat --> Options --> Settings --> Server settings --> Servers --> Options --> New server'
Fill in the settings:
Server name : packetbox Chat
Access point in use :
Connection name : Internet
Data bearer : GPRS
Access point name :
User name : [EMPTY]
Prompt password : No
Password: [EMPTY]
Authentication: Normal
Homepage: None
Web address : http://wv.packetbox.com:8080
User ID :
Password:
Go to 'Chat --> Options --> Settings --> Server settings --> Default server' and select 'packetbox Chat'
And that's pretty much it... Only one last thing left to say... If you don't have GPRS, call 107 MTC or 121 WATANIYA to set it up for you, if ya were a pre-paid line, each message you send or receive will cost you around 2 fils, YEA, 2 fils only and you can be online 24/7.
AND THAT'S HOW YOU GET THE BEST OUT OF YOUR MOBILE THE BLASHA WAY :P
